Optional Life Insurance Update
As a result of the 2003 Negotiations, increased amounts
of Optional Life and Dependent Insurance will be available, effective
January 1, 2004, to eligible Delphi hourly employees who are actively
at work. Furthermore, a special election will be made available to employees
for Optional Life Insurance.
MetLife will conduct a special election using a Telephone Enrollment System.
Employees enrolled in Optional Life Insurance will have an opportunity
to elect a one level increase (if the employee is already at the highest
schedule, they may increase up to two schedules for Optional Life Insurance)
without having to furnish proof of good health. Employees currently not
participating (if otherwise eligible) can elect to enroll into Schedule
I without having to furnish proof of good health. Also, employees may
enroll for or increase Dependent Life Insurance but proof of good health
will be required for each eligible dependent. The special election will
apply to eligible employees on active status and on a Leave of Absence
of six months or less as of January 5, 2004.
MetLife will prepare and mail enrollment kits to the addresses of record
for eligible employees. The employees will be responsible for calling
the Enrollment System during the election period to enroll.
Questions concerning the enrollment are to be directed to the National
Benefit Center at 1-866-335-7444.
