Report From The
33rd UAW Constitutional Convention
June 3-7, 2002
Day 4

In addition to these constitutional changes, the new International Officers were sworn in. President Ron Gettelfinger delivered a heartfelt speech pledging to continue to the work that has been done in the past, and to push our social agenda to insure the rights of all working class Americans, whether represented by labor or not.

The Convention closed with the adoption of the remainder of the proposed resolution changes.
The members of the 33rd Constitutional Convention witnessed history in the making as the gavel was passed from one administration to the next. Democracy was preserved by using the constitution to resolve the issue with the director's race in Region 2. Local 2195 was well represented by their delegates, who stood fast with the leadership to make the changes that will forge a better future for all members.

The Bargaining Convention will begin on June 8, and continue through June 10. Check back Sunday, June 9 for updates on that convention.
The leadership and membership of Local 2195 wish President Steve Yokich, Secretary/Treasurer Ruben Burks and Region 8 Directory Bobby Lee Thompson well in their retirement.
