33rd UAW Constitutional Convention
June 3-7, 2002
Day 4

Following the caucus meeting the convention reconvened with the change to Article 10 being recommended by the Resolutions Committee. After much debate, the resolution passed by an overwhelming majority. The convention was recessed to for Regions, 2B, 8 and 9 to hold new director elections. Region 8 once again nominated and elected Gary Casteel unanimously. Director Elect Gary Casteel welcomed the members of West Virginia to the region and pledged his support for them.

The convention again joined in session to debate and pass the following resolutions:
· Amend Article 33 on appeals to include the appeal of Skilled Trades Lines of Demarcation, so the appeal will go to the International Executive Board. Also, it was added that any decision or action pertaining to a journeyman card should be appealed to the International President.

· Article 8 was amended to extend the convention call from the International Secretary/Treasurer from 60 days to 90 days. It also adds language to mandate delegate elections be held at least 30 days prior to a convention.
· Article 11 was amended to provide pay raises for members of the International Staff, in accordance with normal operating procedures.
