| On Saturday June
16, 2007 UAW Region 8 Servicing Representative Ray Curry was at the UAW
Local 2195 meeting to swear in the newly elected officers of Local 2195.
Following the ceremony the new officers took their places and began their
role in serving the membership of Local 2195.
This new group of leadership begins a new era of Local
2195. Last year’s attrition and retirement programs saw many of
the individuals who have served the membership for years leaving for retirement.
A lot of experience was lost in this move and it will be hard to replace.
However, we should never lose sight of the fact that it is the membership
that makes the union go. Our newly elected officers are very capable and
will give 110% toward this membership.
Now – more than ever this membership needs solidarity.
We must stand united behind the leadership – all active, retired,
first and second tiered members for the good of all. As I have said before,
the company may have degrees of employees but all union members are the
same. This corporation is intent on raping its workforce and redistributing
their wealth up the ladder. Local management is trying to take advantage
of the fact this membership is younger than it was and think they can
divide us. We MUST stand strong.
Congratulations to our new officers and good luck and God’s blessings
on them as they lead this membership.
