The Local 2195 Basketball team
recently capped a perfect 14-0 season with a 46-33 victory of UAW Local
1413 in the Decatur Industrial League tournament championship. This gave
the Local 2195 team the first place trophy for both the season and tournament.

Local 2195 has won the tournament championship for the past three years,
but an undefeated season is quite an accomplishment. Earnest “E.T.”
Torain coached the team again this year.
The championship game was a closely matched contest between the two UAW
teams. Local 1413 held close for much of the game, benefiting from great
outside shooting. However, Local 2195’s inside game of Rod Bass,
Reel Malone and Troy Gholston kept Local 1413 on their toes. Our boys
began to pull away early in the fourth quarter with strong outside play
by Cedric Vanleer, Corey Cobb and Dennis Robinson. Stanley Thompson, Milo
Beckwood, James Lawson and Felix Campbell also made firm contributions.
As the fourth quarter waned, the Local 2195 lead grew leaving Local 1413
desperate and forcing them to foul. Corey Cobb sank six free throws in
the final minutes to keep the opposition out of reach.

“It was another great year for our guys,” states Coach Earnest
“E.T.” Torain. “We played hard this year and took them
one game at a time. Plus, taking a three-peat win in the tournament capped
it off.”
