The 19th Annual Greater Tennessee Valley Antique Car and Harley Davidson Show was held on the grounds of Delphi’s Alabama Site in July 08, 2006. The show is sponsored by Lynn Layton Chevrolet, Family Security Credit Union, Delphi and UAW Local 2195. For nearly a generation this annual gathering of antique car enthusiast has grown into one of the largest events of its kind in the south.

The 2006 edition of the show featured over 800 vehicles excluding the Harley Davidson motorcycles that lined the concessions area. Participants ranged from local car buffs to those who traveled several hundred miles to show off their restored vehicles. Michael Dean and Memphis once again filled the air with classic sounds of rock and roll, featuring the tunes of Elvis Presley.

Many left the show as lucky winners, as a large group of door prizes were awarded including two Chevrolet 350 engines, TVs, DVD players and tools. The grand prize was a 1966 Ford Mustang fully restored.

“We would like to thank everyone who participated in helping make this show a huge success,” states Doug Poole, one of the organizers of the event. “We are grateful to our sponsors, particularly Lynn Layton Chevrolet who provides so much assistance each year. In addition we would like to thank the Alabama Site Support groups including Security, High Voltage, Pipefitters and the Yard Crew for making the grounds preparation and for assisting on the day of the show. Last but not least is our group of volunteers who help out each year. It seems the show just keeps getting better and we hope you can continue the tradition next year.”

The impending sale of the Alabama Site to a new company could play a role in the future of the Greater Tennessee Valley Antique Car and Harley Davidson Show, but at this time the group plans on holding the 20th Anniversary Edition next summer. As more information concerning the future of the show is available, it will be passed along.
