The winners in the Alabama State CAP Essay contest were recently announced. The contest was open to all seniors scheduled to graduate from a Alabama High School and planning to attend college commencing with the fall 2005 term. The winners are:

1st Place $1200 Emily Beavers
Falkville High School
Will attend University of Northern Alabama
Supplemental awards include $200 to the 1st place winner’s guidance counselor and $200 to 1st place winner’s English teacher.


2nd Place $1000 Kiennan P. Dowdy
Huntsville High School
Will attend St. Johns College in Annapolis

3rd Place $600 Jasmine Martin
Home Schooled
Will attend Faulkner University

4th Place $400 Jenniefer Hulsey
Guntersville High School
Will attend O'More Schoolof Design

This years topics included:
- How organized labor benefits Alabama.
- What are the legal rights in Alabama to establish a union?

Alabama State CAP and UAW Region 8 have offered this scholarship every year since 1982.
